How to Keep Your Air Conditioner Running Well Through the Fall08/24/2016 Your air conditioner has put in a lot of work this summer and we still have some more heat coming. Just because the date on the calendar has moved over to fall doesn’t mean you’re finished with your AC for the season. Staying on top of annual AC maintenance, while also following a few other pointers, can help you maintain your air conditioner while staying comfy too. Clean Around Your Outdoor Unit Debris can build up around your outside unit, particularly during the fall. When the time comes to rake up the leaves in your yard, at least rake up the leaves and debris around your air conditioner. Debris can inhibit air flow, causing your system to work harder and wear down faster. We want your air conditioner to last as long as it was designed to. Raise the Temperature on Your Thermostat Set your thermostat at the highest temperature you can while still remaining comfortable. Whenever possible, take advantage of supplemental cooling methods such as fans. The lower you set your thermostat, the harder your system will have to work to reach that temperature. You may think shutting off your unit completely will save on energy and help your system, but that just creates more ground for it to make up when you turn it back on. It will have to work harder for a longer amount of time, which is something else that could lead to untimely system failure. Keep Up With AC Maintenance Keeping a well-maintained system with routine, annual AC maintenance is so critical. Our technicians will look at your air conditioner thoroughly and make sure the electric is working correctly, the coils and filters are clean and so much more. We take a deeper look to catch smaller problems before they become huge breakdowns and turn in to an AC repair appointment. Keeping cool and comfy in your own home isn’t something you should have to be worried about, and with our annual AC maintenance you don’t have to worry.
